Matching System
Understand how to send and receive match requests, manage quotas, and progress a match to a conversation.
How Matches Work
A match request is a formal expression of interest in a breeding partnership. As a Searcher, you browse the marketplace and send a match request to a lister's animal from its profile page. The lister then reviews your request and either approves or declines it.
Match Request Quotas
The number of match requests you can send per calendar month is governed by your subscription tier:
- Free (Starter): 5 match requests per month.
- Premium: unlimited match requests.
- Breeder Pro: unlimited match requests.
- Luxury: unlimited match requests.
Your remaining quota for the current month is visible on the match request form. Quota resets on the first day of each calendar month.
Match Status Flow
A match progresses through the following statuses:
- Pending: your request has been submitted and is awaiting review by the lister.
- Accepted: the lister has approved your request. You may now start a chat and proceed to a breeding agreement.
- Declined: the lister has declined your request. You may send a new request to a different animal.
Acting on an Accepted Match
When a match is accepted, a chat thread is automatically created between you and the lister. Navigate to the Messages section to begin the conversation.
From the match detail page, you can also initiate a Breeding Agreement to formalise the terms of the arrangement. The agreement will be pre-populated with both animals.
Receiving Match Requests (Lister Role)
If you have a Lister or Both account, incoming match requests appear in the Matches section under the "Received" tab. Each request shows the requesting user's profile, their animal (if applicable), and a message if provided.
You can approve or decline each request individually. Approving a request creates a chat thread and notifies the requester.
